Security & Usage Tips

1

Notes & Sharing: You can add context or instructions in the notes. When you use the Individual Share button, the note is included in the link. This is great for shared accounts.

2

Security Warning: NEVER share your primary account passwords through notes or links. 2FA is a secondary layer of security; sharing passwords makes your accounts vulnerable.

3

Local Persistence: All keys are stored safely in your browser's localStorage. Clearing your browser cache or site data will remove your vaulted keys.

4

Vault Backups: Use the Export Vault button to create a full backup link of all your current entries. Save this link in a private place.

2FA Authenticator

Utility: This tool generates Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP) used for two-factor authentication (2FA).

Definitions:
- TOTP: An algorithm that computes a one-time password from a shared secret key and the current time.
- Base32: The standard encoding for 2FA secret keys (A-Z, 2-7).

Technical Background: The tool uses the SHA-1 HMAC algorithm and a 30-second time window, following the RFC 6238 standard.

Fun Fact: 2FA can stop 100% of automated bot attacks and 96% of bulk phishing attacks!
